Starting a journal, again
Every few years I start keeping one of these. A notebook, a notes app, a half-abandoned blog — the format changes but the impulse doesn't. Something happens, or I read something, or I'm on a train with nothing to do, and I think: I should write this down.
Then I don't, for a few months, and the whole thing quietly stops.
What's different this time is that I'm not trying to make it a habit. I'm not committing to a post a week or a word count or any of the structures that usually turn writing into a chore I resent. I'm just going to write when there's something worth writing, and publish it here instead of leaving it in a drafts folder no one ever opens.
The point of a public journal isn't the audience. It's that knowing someone might read it makes you finish the thought.
That's the theory, anyway. We'll see how it holds up.
What to expect
Mostly notes on things I'm building, tools I like, and whatever I've been turning over in my head. Nothing scheduled, nothing evergreen for the sake of it. If you're here for the second one, thanks for coming back.
